Systeme.io offers a permanent Free plan rather than only a short trial.
You can build funnels, collect contacts, use basic automation, create a course, connect a custom domain and access selling tools without paying Systeme.io a monthly subscription.
But 2,000 contacts aren't necessarily the limit you'll hit first.
We tested a real Free account and audited the plan limits displayed inside it on September 6, 2026.
Our editorial interpretation of that snapshot:
Systeme.io Free can support one relatively simple business system. In our assessment, its tightest restrictions are complexity limits — particularly one automation rule, one workflow, one tag and one email campaign.
Current Systeme.io Free Plan Limits
In a direct email response dated September 6, 2026, Systeme.io Support confirmed that the current Free plan includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 15 funnel steps, 1 email campaign, 1 automation rule, 1 workflow, 1 custom domain, 1 online course, unlimited students, 1 A/B test, no evergreen webinars, 0% transaction fees, unlimited emails and management for 1 affiliate program.
Systeme.io identifies its public pricing page as the authoritative public source for current limits. You can check the limits displayed for your own account under Settings → My plan.

Student-capacity reconciliation: Our inspected account displayed a 500-student limit on Free. Systeme.io Support subsequently confirmed unlimited students as the current limit on Free and all three paid plans. We do not know why the account snapshot differed.
Webinar-capacity reconciliation: Our inspected account displayed 10 webinars on the Webinar tier. Systeme.io Support subsequently confirmed unlimited evergreen webinars as the current plan limit. We do not know why the account snapshot differed.
What We Actually Tested
We didn't rely solely on a feature table.
Using a real Free account, we:
- published a live funnel;
- submitted its opt-in form;
- verified that the lead appeared in Systeme.io's contact database;
- created a workflow;
- inspected conditional branching options;
- accessed campaign and newsletter creation.
We did not complete a live outbound email delivery test because sender-email setup prevented completion. We therefore don't treat deliverability as independently tested.
When we performed the later plan audit, the same account displayed actual usage including 2/2,000 contacts, 1/3 funnels and 2/15 funnel steps.
The Limits That Matter Most
The inspected account displayed a headline allowance of 2,000 contacts.
But the same snapshot also displayed only:
| Marketing resource | Free |
|---|---|
| Automation rules | 1 |
| Workflows | 1 |
| Tags | 1 |
| Email campaigns | 1 |
Our interpretation is that this changes the practical question.
Don't ask only:
“Are 2,000 contacts enough?”
Ask:
“Are one automation, one workflow, one tag and one campaign enough?”
In our assessment, a business with 500 contacts but several products and customer journeys may need Startup sooner than a simple business with 1,500 contacts.
What Can You Build for $0?
Our interpretation of the current limits:
| Setup | Free likely enough? | Likely first constraint |
|---|---|---|
| One lead magnet + one sequence | Yes | Additional campaigns/automation |
| One simple sales funnel | Yes | Additional funnels/workflows |
| One small course | Yes | Second course/automation |
| One small creator store | Yes | Product/automation growth |
| Several lead magnets | Maybe | Tags/campaigns/automation |
| Multiple segmented products | Probably not | Workflows/tags/campaigns |
| Evergreen webinar business | No | 0 webinars |
| Multiple brands/websites | No | 1 website/custom domain |
These are practical judgments, not additional technical limits.
Funnels and Lead Capture
Our inspected account displayed 3 funnels and 15 funnel steps on Free.
We successfully published a funnel, submitted an opt-in and verified the resulting contact inside the CRM.
So this isn't merely displayed capacity: basic funnel → lead capture worked in our test.
Email and Automation
Systeme.io provides email functionality in the interface we inspected, while the Free snapshot displayed tight structural limits.
In our assessment, one campaign, automation rule, workflow and tag can support a simple customer journey.
Those displayed limits don't provide much room for multiple products, audiences or lifecycle sequences.
We tested workflow creation but did not complete outbound email delivery, so we make no independent deliverability claims here.
Courses, Website and Selling
Systeme.io Support confirmed 1 online course, unlimited students, 1 custom domain and 1 A/B test on the current Free plan.
Our September 6 account snapshot additionally displayed:
- 1 website;
- 1 blog;
- 2 languages per website;
- 1 creator store;
- 3 store products;
- 50 product variants;
- 1 one-click upsell;
- 1 order bump;
- 1 coupon.
The support response did not address those additional features, so we retain them only as dated account observations.
That combination contributes to our assessment that Free can function as an operating tier rather than simply a demo.
However, we haven't completed every possible course or commerce transaction end-to-end. Displayed availability is not evidence of untested behavior.
The $10,000 Revenue-from-Sales Limit
Our Free account displays:
$0 / $10,000 USD
under the revenue-from-sales limit.
Paid tiers display Unlimited.
We can therefore verify that the $10,000 meter exists.
We cannot verify what happens when the threshold is reached because our test account hasn't generated $10,000 in sales.
We won't turn the meter into an unsupported claim that sales automatically stop at exactly $10,000.
Free vs Startup
Startup doesn't merely add contacts.
The following comparison includes only limits confirmed in the September 6, 2026 Systeme.io Support response:
| Resource | Free | Startup |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts | 2,000 | 5,000 |
| Funnels | 3 | 10 |
| Automation rules | 1 | 10 |
| Workflows | 1 | 5 |
| Campaigns | 1 | 10 |
| Courses | 1 | 5 |
| Custom domains | 1 | 3 |
| Students | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Free lets you operate one relatively simple system.
Startup provides room to operate several.
That's the more useful distinction than contact count alone.
See our complete plan and pricing comparison for the higher tiers and annual-cost arithmetic.
When Should You Upgrade?
Upgrade when you can identify the specific Free limitation preventing the next useful business action.
“I need another automation” is a reason.
“I need several campaigns” is a reason.
“I need another course” is a reason.
“I need webinars” is a reason to look beyond both Free and Startup.
Simply having access to a paid plan isn't a reason to pay for it.
Verdict
Systeme.io Free is a legitimate operating tier.
Its combination of funnels, website, custom domain, email, automation, course, store and sales tools gives a new project considerable room at $0.
The catch is capacity.
For us, the most important numbers aren't 2,000 contacts or three funnels. They're:
1 automation rule + 1 workflow + 1 tag + 1 campaign.
For a simple project, that's workable.
For a business with several products, segments and customer journeys, it becomes restrictive quickly.
Our preferred strategy:
Start free, build the smallest complete system that can validate your idea, and upgrade only when you can name the exact limit preventing your next useful step.
Our evidence-based Systeme.io review covers the broader platform, what worked in our test, and what remains untested.
